Camp Scarp Week 1: By Design

By design starts with a basic sketch and then goes on in many forms,
right up my alley!
I decided to go with prepacked pages kits I had made for myself last October when I went to a retreat, and didn't complete.

Didn't even look at them for the retreat I went to in May.

So for May Flaum, I busted them out :)

I struggled with scrapping the too dark photos, possibly reprinted somewhere else in my scrap room and lost, no surprise.
I will just reprint and replace later, but I really wanted to scrap them anyway.

For the two-pager, I didn't stray much from May's page. I don't normally do that, but I felt good by getting the pictures scrapped and out of my to do pile.
How cute are they?

Talk about quick card. The stitching took the longest.
This little boy's Christening card will go in my card stash for later.

Enjoy!

Camp Scrap Week4: Art Journal

It's funny, I haven't touched my Art Journal in two years,
and now its the only section of  Camp Scrap that I am up to date with.
The theme/inspiration was to draw.
My journal is the perfect place to practice with mediums before starting a major project with them.

My oil pastels are fun to play with, I just am still learning how to use them.
Enjoy!

Camp Scrap Week 2: Mixed Media oooooooh

Well, I must say I enjoyed the week 2 mixed media project tremendously.
I am glad I signed up for May Flaum's Camp Scrap 2014.

It isn't the first time I have attempted the technique, but the way I used it on a box instead of canvas has given me more ideas for an upcoming Mermaid themed birthday party... stay tuned!
Enjoy!

Camp Scrap week 3: Art Journal

Hey All,
Back again with my project from May Flaum's Camp Scrap.
I've been catching up, doing the smaller scale Art Journaling classes first.
Art Journaling is not normally something I keep up with.
I really enjoyed May's collage sample, but I couldn't seem to get that past my head and connect with my hands.
Instead I followed her quick page approach.

Happy with the final result.
I put on paper some of the thoughts and feelings about being stuck, even when surrounded by ideas and inspiration.
Enjoy!

Camp Scrap Week 2: Art Journal

I'm back again!
It seems that if you are in a blogging rut, and do not post as often as you feel you should, take a class with a gallery.
I know I could use my Flickr, but if getting me motivated is the purpose to take a class, might as well go all in.
Sharing my week 2 art Journal page, from May Flaum's Camp Scrap.

Not something I would normally make and share.
I make plenty that never makes it to my blog.

The technique I was attempting didn't really work the way I had planned.
That's okay.
That is why having the art journal is a good idea, a place to practice, and not stress.
Enjoy!

Camp Scrap Journal week 1

Yes, I know, I'm a bit behind in my Camp Scrap projects.
Here's week 1 journal pages.
It's true, I haven't done a page in my art journal since 2012.
I even did this one upside down, oh well.
The point is I did it.
I have even started week 2's journal page.
So what if it's week 3 ;)

I gotta say It's also the first time I inked that fabulous stamp by
Unity Stamp Company.

Enjoy!

Simon Says Stamp - face challenge

I has been a long time since I entered a challenge that was not DT related. So I thought I would give this week's 'faces' challenge a shot at Simon Says Stamp

I used some Tim Holtz dies, ink, and stamps; Stampin' Up! dies and stamps; Tattered Angels stencil; Authentique paper; Prima flowers; Mister Huey spray; and a Marvy punch.

Why not try yourself, here's the full link:

CCC #039: July 2014 Tags Challenge

Hi!
The Catherine and Cathy Create July 2014 Tags Challenge is up, and the theme this month is colour-blocking.
I had a few ideas for this one, but nothing seemed to have the right look I was going for.

I think my problem was I was really over-thinking it.

So I mixed it up to a pattern-block instead of colour.

These challenges are meant to inspire and get us crafting, not to stress over.

So while you are enjoying your Summer fun-time, but out some scrappy supplies to take on the road with you to create some darling little tags, don't forget to upload the link!

Enjoy!

Camp Scrap W1 Mixed Media

Whoa Nelly, two posts in one day.
Dear followers, no I have not been hacked ;p

As I said in my earlier post Camp Scrap is fun.
I'm listening to the live chat with May while I blog.
I really need those round TH blending tools...
Her desk space totally looks like mine, crowded but crafty.

Here's my take on the week one Mixed Media Canvas.

(Thanks to Darlene for the stamp loan!)

Enjoy!

Camp Scrap with May Flaum w1

So I bit the bullet and signed up for Camp Scrap 2014, I have wanted to join in the past, but I don't always hit the checkout button.
I really enjoy May's blog, and she is super fun to listen to.
One of the challenges is to do something outside your comfort zone.
The class started shortly after I returned form a busy beginning of Summer trip, so completing my travel journal really fit for me.
I won this Simple Stories set from Scrappy Dee's retreat in May (check her out on Facebook!)

While I always love the look of other people's journals, it isn't how I normally roll.
So here are a few shots of my book, warning: most of the photos are quick phone snaps.

Enjoy!

CCC:037 "National Pride"

Happy Canada Day!!!

The July Monthly challenge at www.catherineandcathycreate.com
is inspired by your national colours.
Here in Canada that means red and white.

It's turning out to be  a great Summer already,
and I want to be out enjoying it.

That said, I still need some crafty time.
I just need to make use of smaller amounts of time.

Using stencils, sponged ink, and a gel pen I was able to create this layout really quickly, and I'm all ready for today's photos.
The small letters were stamped on a full sheet of white card-stock in advance and I make use of them whenever I can,
without having to grab my stamping stuff.

What are your national colours?
What will you create for the July monthly challenge at www.catherineandcathycreate.com?

Enjoy!
